Bar Love

Two years ago, Jac traded in her 9-5 job as an accountant for bartending. Since then, he’s slung cocktails in both Perth and Tokyo, won the Apprentice Category in this year’s Perfect Blend comp, and has helped to craft some of the first cocktails ever served at Bar Love, Perth’s newest jaunt.

What first drew you to bartending, and what keeps you passionate about it today?

I was an accountant for a little bit, and very quickly discovered that I am not cut out for a 9-5. I was drawn to the hands-on work of hospitality, and while I am quite anxious, I love how it pushes me out of my comfort zone every day. I have a ‘say yes to everything’ mentality, and with how many opportunities there are in this industry, I don’t think I could ever get bored. It’s led me towards the most amazing people, and being surrounded by so much talent and support keeps me constantly passionate and striving to achieve greater things. The free drinks are pretty cool too.
